A unique and prolific songsmith that draws influences from the very roots of folk and blues Matthew cites heroes such as Townes Van Zandt, Cohen and Dylan as his lyrical guides. Demanding listeners to take their ears out the cities and back into the flatline skies of the fens, its factories and at points lonesome albeit softened reflections. This is not Matthew's first musical outing, a songwriter of 20 years with as he puts it “truths to write ”.
His debut album  set to be released in 2022 self titled Matthew James Aylett and produced by legendary producer Gordon Raphael travels across the lands of audio perception wandering through Matthew's mind, following his frustrations and embarked elations.
